Christmas party 2019: trending programmes and table decorations

The GLO Hotel Art and the GLO Hotel Kluuvi are popular venues for Christmas parties – and for a good reason. At the GLO Hotel Art, celebrations are held in the rooms exuding stories of a magnificent stone castle. An equally unique setting is the GLO Hotel Kluuvi in the city centre where the celebrating people enjoy the twinkle of the Christmas lights on Aleksanterinkatu. Not bad!

Tips to party organisers

See the GLOwing tips from Restaurant Manager Samu Honkanen of the GLO Hotel Art on how to plan a successful event!

1. START WITH THE TARGET GROUP AND THE REASON FOR THE EVENT
Plan an event with the target group and objectives in mind. What kind of group are you organising the event for? How can you surprise them? What is the goal of the event and what is the best thing that could happen at the party?

2. PLAN CAREFULLY AND IN GOOD TIME
Good groundwork creates a solid foundation on which it is easy to build a smooth and phenomenal event package. Remember to start early enough – when the most interesting facilities and programmes are still available.

3. MAKE A REALISTIC BUDGET AND HAVE A BUFFER
Be ready with a realistic budget and also include a small buffer – brilliant ideas may pop up as the plan progresses. When you are open about your budget in your request for a quote, the service provider can match it in the best possible way.

4. A THEME HELPS WITH PLANNING
Pick a consistent theme for the party and start building the atmosphere with the invitation. A theme adds to the experience, facilitates overall planning and helps the guests with choosing their outfits.

5. LEAVE TIME FOR SOCIALIZING
Leave enough time for free conversations during the evening. Spending time with colleagues is ultimately the most important part of corporate parties.

6. DELEGATE AND LEAD
Do not try to do everything. Instead, delegate tasks to other team members. Use a detailed checklist to support planning and have a precise schedule. Communicate the division of tasks to the team and partners clearly enough, so that everyone has a common understanding of their responsibilities and what it is that you are doing. You may choose to partner up with an event agency who can handle your event on a turnkey basis. This allows you to focus on other things and the festivities will be a definite success.

7. INVOLVE YOUR GUESTS
Participatory experiences are great and memorable. Engage a professional and success will be guaranteed.

8. DON’T FORGET TO FOLLOW UP
A giveaway, a thank you note, a feedback survey – a good event is something that is still remembered long after it has ended. Consider how to create a fun and concrete memory of the event. How about creating your own hashtag for the event, so that the evening can be recorded through multiple angles?
