GLO Hotels will expand across Keilaniemenranta in Espoo
06, March 2019
GLO Hotels will expand with a 350-room hotel in Keilaranta, Espoo. According to the preliminary plan the hotel will be located on the upper floors of the 36-story building.
2018 was the fourth consecutive year of growth for Kämp Collection Hotels. Hotel St. George was opened in the spring and it has had a strong start. As a whole, KCH will continue with its mission of enriching the lives of our community through solid growth with ten hotels, 17 restaurants and bars, and two spas.
“According to our strategy we have also consistently surveyed new areas of growth. At the end of February we signed a letter of intent to build a hotel with approximately 350 rooms in the Keilaranta tower, Espoo. When completed in 2023 the tower will be one of the highest buildings in Finland (161 m) and an attraction on its’ own. In addition to the hotel, the building will have office premises, restaurants, and conference facilities for over 1000 guests. Negotiations with other tenants and service providers are currently taking place. We are truly excited and proud of this new remarkable growth project of ours.”, says CEO Laura Tarkka, Kämp Collection Hotels.
Keilaniemenranta is a lively sea district and a growing business centre. It has excellent traffic connections and is only a 10-minute metro ride to the Helsinki city centre. The plans for the area include the hotel, children’s daycare, a stunning rooftop restaurant, lunch restaurants and cafés, exercise and wellness services, a children’s play world, and a host of other amenities.
The Keilaniemi tower hotel will be a high-end lifestyle hotel and a part of the evolving and innovative GLO family.
“Our initial plan is to locate the hotel on floors 18-31. The view from each room will be unforeseen. Floors 32-33 will provide facilities for the extended stay concept that we have developed. This segment is growing strong in Europe, and as the leading domestic luxury and lifestyle operator we have the best possible prerequisites to executing the concept. On the two highest floors (35-36) we will build an executive lounge and an exquisite spa, as well as a private gym with swimming pools. The cherry on top will be the Sky Bar located in the 36th floor with incomparable views”, Tarkka continues.
Regenero, a joint venture of YIT and HGR Property Partners, has applied for a planning permit from the city of Espoo for the Keilaniemenranta project in Keilaniemi, Espoo in April 2018. It applies to the waterfront located in Keilaniemi. The plan is to build approximately 100 000 k-m² of office, hotel, business and residential construction in the area already owned by Regenero and the new planning reservation area, in the immediacy of Keilaniemi subway station and Raide-Jokeri end station. The official permissions are expected to be confirmed in the summer of 2019.
The aim is to start the construction of the hotel in 2020 and opening the hotel in spring 2023.
