GLOTROTTER AIRPORT

GLO Airport warmly welcomes you!

Welcome to the GLO Airport hotel, where everything works as it should. At GLO Airport, our priority is to see that your accommodation with us is easy and problem-free. Whatever you need, we’ve got the facilities to make it happen. Whether you need to do business, eat or drink, visit the fitness room or get a good night’s sleep, we want to see you leave us refreshed.

And when its time to continue your journey, the hotel’s convenience can’t be beat. GLO Airport is the only hotel in Helsinki that is located within the airport itself. Just hop on the elevator and it will bring you directly to the check-in kiosks and security checkpoints in a matter of seconds. The Helsinki Airport has been voted the best international airport in Europe for many years running, with quick connecting flights one of its claims to fame. But it now has a new feather in its cap, an airport hotel with first-class efficiency.

Travelling by air can often be a grueling experience, with its tedious rituals and draining repetitiveness. It is an endurance sport with no winners or trophies.

Five hours to spend? How much can one see? A lot.

First of all you need to get into Helsinki. It's quick and effortless as the newly built railway takes you there in half an hour. In five hours one can see and experience surprisingly many things in Helsinki. The heart of the city is compact and everything is near. Almost everywhere is a walk away.

The Senate Square is the beautiful architectonic centre of the city. The entirety of the square, designed by architect Carl Ludvig Engel in the 19th century, still rouses the heart and mind.

Next to the Senate Square is the Market Square, the Old Market Hall and Esplanade Park, which are perfect for a cup of coffee or light lunch. You can get an excellent salmon soup and fish sandwiches from the fishmonger's at the food court of the Old Market Hall.

Finnish design for souvenirs or for yourself to enjoy. Artek, Marimekko and Iittala are everyday household items for Finns. Samuji's beautiful fashion boutique on South Esplanadi offers very minimalist women's fashion, whereas Minna Parikka Universe on Aleksanterinkatu is girly and full of colour, as are her line of shoes.

If you have the time, visit Hernesaari to see the Löyly (Steam) sauna complex, finalised this summer: the sea, sauna, terraces and a restaurant. Löyly is architecture without preconceptions, which has attracted tremendous interest around the globe. If you are in a hurry for a seaside coffee, taxi is your quickest way to get there. Into the steam.
